There will be blood, sweat and tears. . . .
Blood. Okay perhaps a bit dramatic, as an experienced stylist it probably doesn’t happen
very often, you know what it’s like you might be chatting a bit too much and catch your
fingers, we know how sharp your creative tools are! (We also take care of them being
Sweat. Working in a salon in PPE hasn’t been fun, but it has kept your colleagues and clients
safe it hasn’t been too bad as both SJ Forbes salons have glorious air conditioning.
Tears. (Yours not theirs!) We know that being a hairdresser you are often your client’s
confidant/counsellor, you might be supporting someone about to start treatment and
wanting to ‘go short’, or well up with tears of pride for the 9-year-old little girl donating her
ponytail to the Princesses Trust (we sob too, you aren’t alone!) . . .
Picture this you would be joining a 11 strong team of stylists, apprentices, and front of
house who have been with SJ Forbes for on average over 5 years. Your salon is based a
stone’s throw from Egham station, we opened our doors 6 years ago and work with some
on the industries best products including GOLDWELL, Kerastase, and KMS
We don’t have to go into the ins and outs of what you will be doing on a day to day basis,
you are an accomplished stylist who knows the ropes, but we are guessing you don’t get to
be as creative with colour or cuts in your current salon. You are probably itching to join an
ambitious innovate salon brand lead by two directors you are fiercely passionate about
continuous development and keeping on top of trends and techniques. . . we kid you not
the ongoing training in house and externally is unreal! . . . or maybe your current boss is a
In a Nutshell.
You would be looking at on target earnings, uncapped commission on services AND product sales.
It’s a full-time role working 5 days a week over shifts (9am – 6pm, 10am – 7pm and one late
night a week 12pm – 9pm), you would need to factor in Saturdays.
The interview process would be a telephone interview with one of our Salon Directors
(probably Hayley, she loves a chat), a face to face and tray test. . . you get to check out the
environment, meet the team and see what we are about too.
Check out our Instagram feed for what life is like here at SJForbes, can you see yourself
dressing up and getting involved in our Christmas Song activities? Or rolling around in mud
on a team day. . . we do spa trips too if you prefer a different type of mud!
As with any job there are some things you need to have from the off, to get you started:-
An experienced stylist who is creative with cutting and colouring, we work with Goldwell for
colour and are looking for someone who is keen to learn new techniques and develop their
Qualification needed NVQ level 2 in hairdressing.
Excellent communication skills – bit of a no brainer but being able to listen to a clients need
and decipher what they want when they give you that Pinterest image that you know isn’t
going to suit their face shape! . . . .we know you know.
Customer centric attitude – without clients we wouldn’t exist, we have a lot of rebooks and
referrals, keeping client needs and making their salon experience unforgettable (in a good
A passion for hair – this does sound cheesy, but we mean it, a lot of our clients want more
than a layered bob or beach waves. Your creativity would be put to great use.
If this sounds like a bit of you, send your CV across or even better come and see up and drop
it into the salon. If you email it across, we will be in touch within 14 working days.
